At one end of the park in Wooster Square stands a statue of Christopher Columbus. Wooster Square, aka Little Italy, was an area where many Italian immigrants resided. Today there still is a larger Italian population and influence. On Columbus Day in October Chris's statue had been decorated with about 25 beautiful wreaths from all sorts of Italian Clubs.

Most of the wreaths looked similar but all of them complimented autumns gorgeous tones.
That is so nice that you have a statue of CC and that people honor his memory.
ReplyDeleteIt is but some are not so happy. The day after the laying of the wreaths a banner appeared with the word 'murderer' across it. I didn't have my camera with me and when I went back it had been taken down.
